Roof tiles (week 11)

Well so far this week has been buzzing with lots of activity on our property. Monday was lots of delivery for scaffolding and Tuesday it got assembled for the roof to be completed and tiled. Wednesday there was a big team that completed the roof and the tiles (except for the garage).

It really looks like a house now.

Bricks finally and more windows (week 9)

Today the 14 July we finally saw workers onsite. There have been odd jobs being done like internal plumbing but not much else.

Have been very frustrated as our site supervisor had said the roof  tiles will go on and then bricks will commence on the 30 June. Needless to say there are no roof tiles on and now they are doing bricks first.

Last weekend we went for a quick sneak on site to check the roof tiles and bricks are correct. We were all a bit shocked how much smaller how house is than we expected. We hope it is just a misconception as walls are no in etc.

Before work I went to make sure the brickies will be using off white mortar like we requested. I spoke to a friendly worker and asked about the brick  timeline. He said 4 days for ground floor bricks and then scaffolding and then 1 and half weeks for upper floor bricks.

The brick colour we chose was in the standard range called "Stone" and we upgraded to off white mortar as the natural mortar is green in colour.

noticed part of  the stormwater drain is in the front garden

This is the study in the front of the house. Window got put in today. Bricks look darker as they are wet.

Monday 10 July 2017

more work on the frames and trusses and the gutter and fascia (week 7 & 8)

More work on the frame and roof.

Got an email from our site supervisor on 23 June to say he is on 4 weeks leave commencing today and has another contractor in charge.

We are lucky as we have access to a building from behind our house and so we are able to see the garden view over a fence

This shows a window in our family living room and the media room by the pool. We were shocked to see how close the media room is to the pooll that I sent my 10 year to measure an arms length to know the distance.  It is abour 1 - 1.5m which is smaller than we hoped but not much we can do about it.

A photo from the build watch camera. We can get updated photos every 15 mniutes!
